For years, we’ve been on a mission to make the cleanest burning candles on the market. It was simple to eliminate “regular candle ingredients” that we knew we didn’t want to use — like petrochemical dyes and synthetic fragrances — but we have had our sights set on crafting an organic candle for over 15 years.
Candles may seem like unassuming offenders, but in a typical year over 1 billion pounds of wax are used in global candle production and very little of that wax is something worth high-fiving about. Can you imagine replacing petrochemicals and conflict-palm with sustainable, organic ingredients? The impact stretches from the fields to the factories to the families that light a candle at the end of a long day.
In our candle explorations, we have experimented with many interesting organic plant waxes and organic beeswax but kept meeting performance and cost issues that did not translate to a ready-for-primetime candle.
