With summer in full swing across the United States, it’s easy to think of some of the most classic summer foods with fond memories of years past. Foods such as strawberries, summer squash, and of course, corn. What is more American than corn? On this month’s installment of the Palm Done Right recipe series, we are going to show you a hot take on an old favorite: classic corn on the cob with red palm oil.

Corn on the Cob with Red Palm Oil

If you think about corn as a canvas for flavor, you can really let your imagination go with this very simple recipe. The only ingredients that you need are corn stalks and red palm oil, the rest is up to you! Though we are happy to give you a few ideas to spice up your side dish.

Ingredients

  • Cobs of Corn
  • Red palm oil
  • Your choice of spices

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a full boil (do not add salt)
  2. Add the corncobs and cook for 20 minutes
  3. Remove from pot and let dry slightly
  4. Roll corn gently in a thin layer of red palm oil
  5. Sprinkle or roll with the spices of your choice

What Spices Should Be Used to Flavor the Corn?

That is completely and totally up to you! Some spices that come to mind are:

  • Cayenne
  • Garlic powder
  • Seaweed salt
  • Herb salt
  • Paprika
  • Onion powder
  • Salt & pepper

What About Herbs?

You may wish to add either chopped, fresh herbs or powdered herbs to your cooked corn as well. Some delicious herbs to experiment with are:

  • Basil
  • Parsley
  • Cilantro
  • Sage
  • Thyme
