Published on: November 10, 2022

During this time of year, the true start of autumn, we welcome so many exciting festivities. October brings us Halloween, and through the entire month, you can commonly find friends and families visiting apple orchards and pumpkin patches. This makes October the perfect time to delve into recipes with none other than one of the most traditional fall ingredients – pumpkin. This fall favorite, accompanied with the right blend of spices, is regarded as the flavor of autumn, the taste usually associated with the season as coffee shops far and wide unveil their seasonal pumpkin spice lattes. In this month’s recipe, we will showcase a food with the delicious pumpkin flavor you’re craving: pumpkin bread!

This recipe calls for none other than organic palm oil, our favorite ingredient to amp up any recipe with the power of palm. Although refined palm oil has very little flavor, instead characterized by its neutral taste and smell, organic red palm oil actually has a taste compared to pumpkin and carrots due to its high beta-carotene content. This rich vegetable oil also provides strong health benefits, which can make your recipes filled with nutrition, alongside the delicious flavor. If you’re craving the flavors of fall and want to find out how to incorporate incredible, sustainably sourced palm oil, keep reading and discover our crowd-pleasing pumpkin bread recipe!

Pumpkin bread enriched with palm oil

Pumpkin bread is a classic autumnal recipe that is moist and absolutely bursting with warm, sweet flavor. It keeps well since it’s so moist, meaning it won’t go stale quickly. This is the perfect treat to warm up and eat alongside a cup of tea or spiced cider. Alternatively, you can incorporate it as part of a healthy breakfast. This recipe can even be enriched with additional ingredients depending on your preferences, such as walnuts or raisins. No matter if your home is full of picky eaters, your loved ones are bound to enjoy this simple, yummy recipe. Find out just how easy it is below!

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 cups granulated white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup organic red palm oil
  • 2 cups unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • ⅔ cup water

* Note that this recipe yields two loaves.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 ºF. Grease and flour two 9” x 5” loaf pans. You can use different sizes depending on what you have available, but be mindful that the loaves will rise differently.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together your flour, spices, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. In another, larger bowl, whisk together your eggs, sugar, and organic palm oil, again making sure everything is fully combined.
  4. Add your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients, mixing in a little bit at a time until the dry ingredients have been fully incorporated into the wet mixture.
  5. Add the pumpkin puree and water into your bowl, and stir together thoroughly.
  6. Divide batter between your pans, and bake for 1 hour. You can ensure that your loaves are done baking by inserting a toothpick into the center of the loaf and checking that it comes out cleanly. Baking time can vary depending on the pan size you use.
  7. Enjoy! These loaves are especially delicious while warm.
